Description of Class
This class will use active-teaching methods that allows for the use of multimodal learning opportunities utilizing visual, auditory, reading, and kinesthetic (VARK), which will engage you during the learning process so that you can learn challenging cardiac concepts in a fun and exciting way!
Additionally, unfolding case study (UCS) will be used to formatively assess how you analyze/synthesize acute and chronic cardiac disease dysrhythmias and how you use inference to hypothetically determine the most effective treatments that can lead to positive healthcare outcomes.
Cardiac Topics
* Heart anatomy and cardiac conduction system
* P, QRS, and T wave forms and their correlation to atrial/ventricular dysrhythmias and myocardial infarction
* PR and QRS intervals
* Interpreting irregular and regular heart rhythms
* Recognizing, interpreting, and gaining knowledge on how to prioritize treatment the following pacemakers: (Atrial, ventricular, and dual)
* Recognizing, interpreting, and gaining knowledge on how to prioritize treatment the following dysrhythmias: Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs)
